Mark Hayden Arrested for Andrew Colwell Murder

Following up on a GroundReport story from yesterday (see earlier coverage of Andrew Colwell), Mansfield police have a suspect in the murder of 18 year-old Andrew Colwell. Police believe Mark Hayden shot Andrew Colwell in the back of the head during a marijuana deal.

Mark Hayden was arrested in Boston's South Station where he preparing to leave Boston by bus. He was in possession of marijuana at the time of his arrest. The murder was the first one in Mansfield in 17 years.

Mark Hayden gave police a videotaped confession to the murder. He is charged with murder, armed robbery, assault with intent to rob, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling and possession of marijuana. His arraignment is scheduled for 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 9.
