Montauk Monster (or Turtle Without Shell) Making Headlines

A mysterious creature has washed ashore at Montauk in the easternmost part of Long Island, New York. A photo circulating around the internet shows a strange, half pig, half turtle creature lying dead on the beach sand.
Some think that the Montauk Monster is a mutated result of animal testing at nearby Plum Island where U.S. Department of Agriculture admittedly has done animal testing.
The Montauk Monster looks like a pig with the head of a turtle and front flippers. Could it be a turtle without its shell?
Some of the user comments on Gawker.com, the Web site that broke the story, read "It's obviously a griffin," "I smell a beach cookout" and "THIS.WILL.HAUNT.MY.DREAMS."
