Ron Paul Rally To Take Place Near GOP Convention On Sept. 2
For those keeping track of the US Presidential race let alone the campaign of presumed GOP nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona, one should already know that Republican Representative Ron Paul of Texas is still in the headlines. In short, Paul refuses to give up. Ron Paul and his “Ron Paul Revolution” is something that neither the GOP nor McCain should discount.
The Ron Paul Revolution continues to live on. While McCain is considered a “maverick” of the GOP, it seems that Paul is the “true maverick” of the party. Paul has openly stated that he will not endorse a candidate that supports the war in Iraq. So far, Iraq has been the main platform of McCain’s candidacy. For anyone that has watched the Republican debates, one should know that Paul has been the only GOP candidate that is against the war in Iraq.
Still, the Ron Paul Revolution has been and continues to gain followers. Paul’s book titled “The Revolution: A Manifesto” had even made the New York Times bestseller list. This revolution looks to have been gaining supporters ever since.
With many factors at play, the GOP has a lot to fear this coming November. Predominantly Republican district seats are starting to become occupied by Democrats. Many Republicans are distancing themselves away from US President George W. Bush. The GOP is trying to pull its image out of the trash can. Finally, the main base of the GOP is not excited about McCain.
But, there is also the Ron Paul Revolution to deal with. It plans to make a major impact this September 2 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. What is significant about that date and location? The GOP Convention is due to take place on September 2 in St. Paul, Minnesota at the Xcel Energy Center.
According to Jesse Benton, the spokesman for Paul, a rally will be planned near the Williams Arena. It will be on the second day of the GOP Convention. Paul does have a strong and devoted following. Benton said that the rally will be large.
Benton said: “We want it to be a celebration of Republican values and what the Republican Party has traditionally stood for.” The message of this rally would be the return to the roots of the GOP, which is limited government and personal responsibility.
The GOP Convention will be for four days. It has been confirmed that the Williams Arena will be used for the Ron Paul Rally.
Many within the Republican Party such as McCain should have concerns. As the rally takes place on the same day as the GOP Convention, must attention could be sapped away from McCain.
So yes, the Ron Paul Revolution still lives on. The revolution is getting stronger, one should get used to it.
