Stephen Colbert Supported By Millions For President
This has just happened within nine days. In a little over a week, Stephen Colbert of the Colbert Report has gained one million supporters on an online group on Facebook. This comes after Stephen Colbert has announced his candidacy for the 2008 US Presidential Elections. There are also five-hundred other groups on Facebook that too support Colbert’s candidacy.
On a humorous note, Stephen Colbert said that he will run for both parties in order to “lose twice.” Colbert plans to run as both a Democrat and a Republican in his home state of South Carolina. The group was set up by Raj Vachhnai which is called “1,000,000 Strong For Stephen T Colbert.” This came from the inspiration by a movement for Democratic candidate Barack Obama called: “One Million Strong for Barack.”
Colbert’s support group happened to be the largest political group on Facebook in under two weeks. As a result, Facebook was faced with technical problems.
The campaign has already started at an appearance at the University of South Carolina. He humorous played on an interstate rivalry with Georgia in the speech: “I promise, if elected, I will crush the state of Georgia.”
