The People of Gloucester Try To Unlock Mystery of Alleged 'Pregnancy Pact'
There are many mysteries of life. Life has many mysteries. When we thought we have solved them all, a new mystery is added to the list. You do not find answers over night. This is why they are called mysteries. But mysteries are similar to anomalies. Anomalies are defined as irregularities and things that are unusual.
It was such a mysterious anomaly that had put Gloucester, Massachusetts, a small and simple fishing town under the international radar. This was due to an alleged or so-called pact made by a group of teenage girls attending the same high school. Luckily, it was not a suicide pact.
However, this pact was interestingly enough. The first word of such a pact was reported in Time magazine. Much international attention has been brought towards Gloucester. Instead of a suicide pact, this large group of girls decided to get pregnant. They would get pregnant and raise their children together.
However, there is the debate on whether there was a pact or not.
There were 18 girls that ended up pregnant. One of them did not seem to know about a pregnancy pact. Brianne, one of the girls had asked “Pact, what pact?” She became pregnant due to a malfunction in the contraception. She did not know about a pact.
In a nutshell, there’s an anomaly in Gloucester.
There is a new mystery to be solved. This mystery that comes with such an anomaly has given Gloucester a sense of notoriety. Keep in mind that there was an incident in 1991 that was used as the plot line for “The Perfect Storm” with George Clooney.
The mystery that needs to be unsolved is: How did 18 girls end up becoming pregnant? One could simply answer that they were having a lot of sex. That’s the straight forward answer. Of course, teenage sex is everywhere.
Here’s the kicker, these girls were at least 16 years of age or younger. The rephrased question is: How did 18 girls of the same age end up pregnant at once?
According to the father of Brianne’s child, there was a level of horniness mixed with a cold winter and a town where activity is stagnant. It sounds reasonable enough. But, that would’ve mean a lot of people were doing it.
A boring town is understandable. A boring town in the middle of winter is more understanding. However, the girls were all at least 16 or under. If it was horniness that played the factor, wouldn’t there also be pregnancies amongst females 16 and older as well?
If horniness was the case, there would be plenty of high school juniors and seniors pregnant as well.
The factor of horniness does not really add up since the 18 girls are about the same age with each other.
Was it a pact? Was it a group of teenagers horny? Was it just mere coincidence?
I personally would put this on the same level as this one question: How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop?
The answer is: The world may never know?
At least the people of Gloucester have something to occupy themselves with. In regards to finding out if it was a pact or not, of course. The people of Gloucester are definitely going to be talking and speculating.
