20 Kilos of Hashish and Its Porters Arrested
Media reports in Kathmandu say patrolling police have arrested five persons in Bardia while carrying 20 Kgs of hashish to New Delhi. The arrestees are Laxmi Pun (woman), Tek Bahadur Budha and Raman Budha of Kapilvastu district. The other two arrestees are Kul Bahadur Budha and Bishnu Rokaya of Rolpa district.
These persons, according to reports, had been doing the job of porters. The police have not yet disclosed who are actually the masterminds behind the smuggling of hashish. It has been customary to arrest porters and publish their names while concealing the names of powerful smugglers.
The Interpol has viewed Nepal as the transit of drug dealers.
Corruption in rule adjudication and judiciary departments in Nepal has been perceived as the primary cause of convenience to drug smugglers.
