Aggressively pursue PDP’s visionary agenda; Mufti to party cadre
Srinagar, June 12 (Scoop News) –Patron of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today exhorted the party workers to aggressively pursue the agenda of the party because people of the State have endorsed, from time to time, the policies and programmes of the party. He said that PDP had translated its promises into realities so people of the State have very high hopes from our party.
Addressing district committee meetings of Anantnag and Kulgam districts, Mufti said that PDP, through its works during its short span of tenure, has earned credibility of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the masses were looking towards PDP to get their aspirations addressed.
“You have to categorically tell the people that agenda of PDP is to solve the Kashmir problem and to establish lasting peace in this region”, he told the workers and called for mobilizing public opinion in favour of PDP’s agenda. He threw lights on Self-Rule document of the party and asked the workers to educate the people about this visionary document which aimed at making Jammu and Kashmir a self reliant state besides addressing external and internal dimensions of Kashmir problem.
“Politics of our party is not only to attain power. Aim of our party is to restore lasting peace in this region and to establish a system where every section of the society would get justice and equal opportunities for development and economic growth”, he said and pointed out that during its short span of three years PDP led regime had carved out a path of peace and development in the state. While reiterating that Jammu and Kashmir had become a victim of trust deficit between people of the state and rest of the country, he asserted that PDP, through its policies and programmes would remove their trust deficit.
Speaking on the occasion, former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beigh said that peace process initiated by the Government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was an irreversible process and roadmap laid by his party was the only way to establish sustainable peace in the sub-continent. “It was all due to the convictions of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that the then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee had extended a hand of friendship towards Pakistan at the time when tension between the two countries was high on the borders,” he said, adding that PDP through its pro-peace polices convinced both the neighboring countries to break the ice and take some Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) for restoration of peace in this region. “Whatever steps Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had initiated for restoring peace, successive regimes at Delhi endorsed them,” he said and reiterated PDP’s commitment to work as facilitator for solution of Kashmir problem.
