BJP concern over continuous discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh
Jammu, April 30 (Scoop News) – The 2-day State working committee Meeting of J&K BJP today expressed grave concern over the continuous discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh, minorities, refugees of all denominations and those who believe in total integration of the state with the rest of the country.
BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas along with State Vice-president Bali Bhagat and State Secretary Sunil Sharma while briefing the media persons about political resolution adopted on the last day of the 2-day State Working Committee Meeting of J&K BJP, said that in different sessions threadbare discussions were held on a number of issues confronting the state under the NC-Congress coalition under Omar Abdullah.
Shamsher Singh Manhas said that discrimination with Jammu through lopsided distribution of assembly seats amongst the three regions of the state are indicative of the lack of democratic ethos and temper of the valley centric government and party’s demand for a fresh delimitation of the constituencies in the state was reiterated.
He said that the working committee was deep concerned that the refugees from
Disbanding of custodian department and grant of ownership rights to the evacuee properties tenants were also raised in the meeting, Manhas added.
It was alleged that State coalition partners are subverting the democratic institutions by not holding the block and district level Panchayat elections and delay in holding election to the Urban Local Bodies which were due in February 2010. Under UPA regime in the centre 73rd and 74th constitutional amendments have been adopted in all the states of the Indian union except J&K.
The working committee also expressed concern over all time high graph of corruption in the state as well as illegal occupation of government land by the politicians, bureaucrats and some police officers. The committee also criticized the state government for its indifferent attitude towards the ex-servicemen.
Temporary appointments have been done under different schemes like contractual, consolidated, Rehber-e-Zarat, SSA, NRHM, AWW, daily wagers, casual etc in the state from a very long back. All such temporary appointments are being regularized after a period of 5 to 7 years but no consideration is being done for implementing reservation rules, despite no such rule is anywhere to debar them from their due share of reservation.
It was also observed that during UPA regime in the Centre, poor people are not able to have two square meals due to sky-rocketing prices. Benefits of BPL scheme are not reaching the deserving people. Unprecedented hike in power tariff in the state has left common man desperate. Protests, demonstrations, hunger strikes have become a daily routine under the present regime. The State Working Committee resolved to work more vigorously for grant of citizenship rights to the West Pakistani Refugees, adequate compensation and rehabilitation of refugees from PoK, those of 1965 and 1971 besides dignified return of the Kashmiri Pandits to their homes and hearths in the valley. Besides enactment of a stringent law for the protection of Hindu shrines and temple in the valley.
The committee also resolved to agitate for implementation of the 73rd and 74th amendments in totto in the state and one time settlement of pending power tarrif bills with without charging any interest.
It further resolved for sanctioning remuneration for all left out VDC groups in the state adopting uniformity and demanded for raising a special force to curb the terrorism in the state on the pattern of Ladakh scouts or territorial army by recruiting young VDC members and enhancement of monthly honorarium of SPOs upto Rs. 6000/-.
