Bahrain Riots Continue For Fifth Day

One protester was left dead on Monday as security forces dispersed demonstrators in the Shia villages of Bahrain with both tear gas and rubber bullets. The local media reports that at least 39 people have been arrested in the rioting. They add that around a dozen people have been injured in the process.

The protester was a 22-year-old man. He died in the hospital after inhaling the tear gas. However, the official Bahrain News Agency cites that the security forces maintain their stance that the man died of natural causes.

Several hundred demonstrators fought with security forces in the north part of Bahrain on Thursday. They fought using both petrol bombs and stones as their weapons.

The protests began on Monday. They were staged by the Shias who reportedly have demanded compensation for what they say were human rights violations between 1980 and 1990.
