Bandipore Sadbhavana touring children meet Governor
Jammu, (Scoop News) - A group of 20 students from the Bandipore district, back from their visit to various places of educational, historical and cultural importance in Delhi, Karnataka and Goa, met N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today and shared with him their experiences during this tour. The students were accompanied by one of their teachers and the Army officers who had been with them on the tour.
The 13-day educational tour was organized by the Army’s 14 RR under the Sadbhavana Programme. The tour was flagged-off from Bandipore on 21st February and will conclude on 4th March, 2012.
Interacting with the students, the Governor enquired from them about the places they had visited and what they had liked the most during the tour. All the students, who are studying in classes 9th to 12th, said that it was an excellent opportunity for them to have visited various places of historical and cultural interest in

The Governor asked Maj. Manish Negi, who had accompanied the students during the tour, to provide each student with a photo album which would contain brief write-ups on the various places and monuments they had visited, to broaden their knowledge. The Governor observed that during future visits the students should be provided the opportunity of visiting Navy or Coast Guard ships and being shown aircrafts of different categories at an IAF base, if located in the station visited by them. He also asked Maj. Negi to organize an Essay Writing competition for these students, based on their experience of the visit, and agreed to give prizes to the first three students whose essays would be adjudged best. He suggested that the 14 RR should bring out a publication about this Sadbhavana Tour which would also contain the best three adjudged essays in it, for the benefit of other children.
The Governor presented gifts to the students and wished them a bright future ahead.
A memento was presented to the Governor by the children on behalf of 14 RR as a memorabilia on this occasion.
