Black Leopard Killed in Missouri

A big black cat, killed in Missouri, has been identified as a black leopard by the St. Louis Zoo.

On May 19, a woman called the police, saying a big black cat was scratching at her door.  A police deputy came, and killed the animal, saying the cat had lunged at him. 

In Missouri, owners of wild cats have to register the cats, but no owner has reported a cat missing.  This suggests that the cat came from another state.
