UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has asked nations to work towards developing and adopting the low-carbon economy to effectively cope with the environmental crisis as well as to generate more jobs to deal with the economic crisis.
Speaking to the media at the World Economic Forum in Davos, he urged nations to give a fresh impetus to the process of economic growth for the sake of eradicating extreme poverty and hunger.
On the occasion, Ban Ki-moon stressed that nations could promote both economy and environment through a possible “Green New Deal”. He referred to this approach as something to “catch two birds with one stone.”
