Challenges Facing the New Israeli Government

Iran is the number one Middle Eastern issue for the state of Israel but also for many of its neighbors. Any new Israeli government will be faced with the challenge of coming up with a workable peace strategy that will not simply regurgitate the formulae that were used and patently failed in the past. Gaza also poses a very real problem. It is a Mediterranean beachhead for the Islamic Republic of Iran which is supplying arms to Hamas, giving money and training Hamas operatives in military camps outside of Tehran run by the Revolutionary Guards. The Golan Heights are vital for the security of Israel.
