Climate Change now affects Philippine Archipelago

It looks like that rainy season have set in this early of the year in big portion of the Philippines wherein continues rains have affected the Eastern Visayas, the Bicol region, Baguio City and the neighboring Benguet Province. Unabated rainfall inundated agricultural lands; homes were damaged as well as infrastructures mainly used by the affected people in the rain soaked places.

Normally, rain rarely occurs in the first few months of the year because tropical countries like the Philippines should be expecting the start of summer. But unfortunately, the current situation shows otherwise. Instead of sunshine and hot temperature, rains and cool climate envelops the whole day and night.

Weather specialists blamed the weather phenomenon called “La Nina” which is already in the country that causes heavy rainfall. However, it’s hard to believe that “La Nina” is solely to blame. Global warming is now upon the planet earth and precisely climate change altered the Philippines’ weather condition.

This weather abnormality is alarming which only shows that more serious situation might occur in the near future. The Philippines is one of the countries in Asia that was predicted to suffer from the effect of global warming. And it is now happening as shown by the unabated rains battering the country.
