Condition Merapi "Point of No Return"



Yogyakarta, (October 22, 2010) Head Vulkonologi Geological Disaster Mitigation Center, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Surono asserted, the current condition of Mount Merapi would not return to its original position or have reached the Merapi Entry Conditions "Point of No Return".


      "If you look at the changes that occurred from September until today, Mount Merapi has been estimated to reach a point of no return , that is not coming back again to its original state," he said while socializing at the Village Hall Kepuharjo, Cangkringan, Sleman, Friday. According to him, but with this condition Merapi volcano will soon erupt or not only own the idea of Mount Merapi.


      Surono explained, on October 20, 2010 or the day before the mountain was upgraded to alert, there have been 479 times multiphase earthquake, deep and shallow volcanic earthquake a total of 39 events and the occurrence of avalanches 29 times. "Other characteristics of the water content and gas Merapi has been greatly reduced, meaning that his condition was very hot. Temperature last thing we note in the region Woro, on October 20, reached 587 degrees Celsius," he said.


 


6000 Shared Masks


 


      County Government Boyolali, Central Java, has distributed 6000 masks to residents in three villages, in the District Selo, Friday, in anticipation of the possibility of Mount Merapi disaster rose to standby status.


      Masks are distributed to citizens in Countryside Tlogolele, Klakah, and the whole observatories who entered the ring one Merapi disaster-prone, as preparation to protect from volcanic dust in case of eruption. Thousands of such masks were distributed by officers Midshipman Disaster Preparedness (Tagana), members of the Indonesia National Army (TNI), and team officials Boyolali Health.


      "Shipping tent platoon started the process of the various logistical needs in three locations namely Village Bawukan barracks, Keputran, and  Dompol," said Executive Secretary Klaten, Sri Winoto, in Klaten, Friday.He explained that the step distribution of logistics such as refugee camps, food, and mask carried out gradually as a form of local district government vigilance against the threat of disasters that can occur at any time.
