DSL and PTCL service suspended for the last two weeks.

CHITRAL: Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) is out of order for the last two weeks as well as Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation Limited (PTCL) media also jam for the last 10 days. As a result consumers of Chitral are facing great problems because there is no other source of communication. They can not dial any contact number outside of Chitral and their business is badly affecting. As main road of Chitral has been blocked at Lawari pass and Lawari tunnel also remained closed 4 days a week which is opening 3 days a week for 3 hours only . A large number of people depending upon DSL and internet service for sending their important files, data and other information out of Chitral but due to failure of DSL they facing great hardships. Especially students of Online Universities facing great hardships getting their semesters and courses. Solar NERA Linko repeater has been installed at the peak of Lawari pass which mostly remained faulty during winter season after snowfall. As a result DSL and PTCL remained disconnect to Chitral side. Weather remained clear but there is no activity of DSL and PTCL staff for restoring DSL service in Chitral. Saeedullah Khan president Trade union Drosh warned high ups of PTCL that if they not restored DSL and PTCL service within 2 days they will came on roads and will protest against apathy of the PTCL staff. He also demanded for remission and discount in monthly utility bills for disturbed period. Residents of the area also demanded for installing Optical Fiber link in Chitral district because it has great potential due to high literacy ratio in the district.
