First Sri Lankan Female Chief Justice Sworned In

Sri Lanka's first female Supreme Court Judge Dr.Shirani Bandaranayake has sworned in as the first Sri Lankan female Chief Justice before President Mahinda Rajapaksha this morning .

The 53 year old Dr.Bandaranayake has sworned in as the new Chief Justice following the mandatory retirement of former Chief Justice Asoka De Silve in May 2011.Dr.Bandaranayake had previously served 11 times as acting Chief Justice according to the legal sources
