Global Volunteer Network Raises $25,000 for Film Project
The Global Volunteer Network (GVN), a New Zealand registered Charity organization (http://www.globalvolunteernetwork.org) has said it is currently making efforts to raise $25,000 in order to complete funding on a film project called Stomp.
This indication is contained in a report by its Founder and President, Colin Salisbury adding that they have been running a rather ambitious fundraiser with an online crowd funding platform called “Kickstarter,” with the aim of raising the needed fund for their film.
The film he said is to be made by the GVN Foundation's creative unit and would follow a group of 15 gumboot dancers from a youth group in a poor area of Soweto, South Africa, as they travel to China this year to perform in front of thousands of people.
According to Salisbury, “Kickstarter” is an all or nothing fundraising platform, “in other words if you don't reach your goal, you don't get the funds. We reached out to all of you and lots of friends and waited nervously as the pledges slowly came in throughout the month and our funds total slowly crept upwards.”
He pointed out that the GVN Creative Director, Ray even did gumboot dancing and sang the South Africa National Anthem to drum up support. “Our fundraiser finished on Saturday morning, and as we hit our 100th backer, we also hit $25,000.”
He also stated: “Thanks to many of you, we are now able to make this film. We are so grateful to everyone who supported us and helped us spread the word, and we can't wait to get this show on the road!”
