Hosting a cadre of politics and culture stars, US Mission spokesman Ben Chang welcomed friends to the United Nations Delegates Lounge last night. 

For the uninitiatied, Delegates Lounge is a slice of old school diplomacy: original courbusier chairs pepper the wall-to-wall carpeting, Die Welt papers wait for reading in the magazine rack and smoking at the bar doesn't raise any eyebrows. 

Only catch? You need a diplo escort to make it in the door.  Or in the gate, through security, up the elevators and past the guards.  For now, here's the citizen journalism dispatch from inside the United Nations headquarters, originally streamed live via Qik.com by GroundReport's Rachel Sterne.
