IAF operates 1st flight to Kargil today

Srinagar, November 29 (Scoop News) – In view of declaration of Srinagar-Kargil road closed for vehicular traffic on Zojila from 1st December 2011, the first flight of AN-32, Kargil Courier, of Indian Air Force operated today between Jammu and Kargil.

Passengers desirous of availing the special airforce flight have been advised to arrange the air tickets from Liaison Officers posted at Kargil House Bemina Srinagar/Jammu and Kargil. The passengers are required to bring with them, their original and photocopy of identity card and also three passort size photographs.

Meanwhile The 5 story new Boys Hostel for Kargil students at Channi Rama here will be thrown open for accommodation in the coming January, said Minister for Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) and Transport Qamar Ali Akhoon, during his inspection of hostel complex today.

Akhoon said that finishing work of the hostel complex is at the final stage at a cost of Rs 7 crore. He said 230 students pursuing higher education in Jammu educational institutions would be accommodated in this hostel, adding that the complex has all basic facilities which include 78 bed rooms, 3 community halls, library room besides kitchen and dining facilities.

The Minister said that providing hassle-free accommodation facilities to the students of far off areas of the state is given focussed attention, adding that government has already taken initiatives for execution of hostels for the students of such areas. He said construction of Boys Hostel Kargil is the endeavour of the government in that direction. He said the hostel would facilitate the students of Kargil for pursuing their higher education.

Akhoon also visited proposed site for construction of Kargil House at Channi Rama. He said the government has already acquired 6 kanals of land for the purpose. He directed concerned authorities to complete all codal formalities, remove impediments like encroachment and other hurdles immediately for early execution Kargil House.

Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Kachoo Ahmad Ali Khan, MLA Zanskar Feroz Ahmad and a team of senior officers and Engineers were accompanied by the Minister during his tour.
