Indian Airforce airlifted 46 stranded passengers from Kargil to Padum



  


Kargil/Srinagar, May 10 (Scoop News) –   Indian Airforce today airlifted about 46 stranded passengers including 9 students in 4 sorties of MI 17 Helicopter service from Kargil to Padum.


 


Engineer Punchok Tashi and MLA Feroz have conveyed their thanks to Katoch Director Civil Aviation, Gill AOC Udhampur, Mishra and Amir Ali OSD to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir for making arrangements for airlifting the stranded passengers


 


Meanwhile the Executive Councilor for Tourism and Zanskar Affairs LAHDC Kargil, Engineer Punchok Tashi along with MLA Zanskar Feroz Ahmad Khan visited Rangdum village to assess the progress of snow clearance work of Kargil Zanskar Road. The road has been cleared upto Km 135 from Kargil side and 70 Km from Padum towards Kargil has been cleared. Out of the total length of 234 Km of Kargil Zanskar Road 209 Km has been cleared till date and only 29 km is to be cleared yet.


 


Executive Engineer Mechanical Division assured that his department will try its best to open the road for traffic upto 25th of this month.
