Iran executes 30 people in jail hangings

The convicts were found guilty of murder, rape, armed robbery and drug trafficking.

According to state television IRB, the hangings were carried out within Teheran’s avin prison at 5.30 am according to local time.

Amnesty international told that Iran carried out highest executions than any other countries apart from china, which carried out 317 executions.

In Iran murder, rape and drug trafficking comes under capital punishment. Human right activists blamed Iran for carrying out excessive capital punishment, Iran insisted that convicts are executed after an exhaustive judicial process. In this case highest court of Iran found that those are executed have record of repeated offence of murder, rape and drug trafficking.

In a report it was mentioned that twenty out of 30 accused are convicted for drug trafficking.

Iran hopes that execution of drug smuggler will send a strong warning to criminals
