J&K CM visits moon land Ladakh,inspected rehabilitation works at Leh
Leh (Ladakh), November 26 (Scoop News) –– J&K Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Friday visited Leh (Ladakh), inspected the rehabilitation works at various places including Solar Colony at Choglamsar where 158 flood affected families have shifted to as many newly built two-room tenements. The construction of these dwelling units has been completed within the prescribed time frame by these families with the financial assistance of the Centre and State Governments and all out support by the district administration.
The Chief Minister had directed the district administration to help completion of the construction of Colony before onset of winter by providing construction material and financial assistance to these families well in time besides technical and other support.
Omar also inaugurated Rs. 8 crore 4.5 MW Diesel Power Station at Leh which will augment the current electric supply in the area besides electrifying the newly developed Solar Colony for the affected families of flash floods at Choglamsar.
Omar Abdullah also visited Phyang and announced Rs. 1.5 crore for massive reclamation programme of 950 kanals of agriculture land washed away in the floods. Asking the district administration and agricultural officers to put in vigorous efforts to complete the reclamation work before the next sowing season, the Chief Minister said that a comprehensive project under Command Area Development for reclamation of the washed land has been prepared and sent to the Union Government for funding.
Expressing the hope that the funds would be flowing soon from the Centre, he said the amount announced by him would help launch the programme speedily so that farmers could utilize the land for cultivation in the next sowing season.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated pre-fabricated Imambara at Phyang which was also washed away in the floods. He said that in view of the ensuing Muharram the pre-fabricated Imambara has been established while the construction for its permanent structure will go side by side.
At a district officers meet chaired by him at Leh, the Chief Minister reviewed the rehabilitation programme and normal developmental schemes under execution in various sectors.
The Chief Minister urged the administration to further accelerate the pace of work on permanent restoration of public service infrastructure. “You have done a good job”, he told them directing to give further boost to the rehabilitation programme and developmental activities.
Presenting the resume of the rehabilitation activities and pace of progress on normal developmental works, the Deputy Commissioner, Leh, T. Aungchuk, briefed the Chief Minister about the status of ongoing schemes. He said Detailed Project Report (DPR) for training of 5 Nallahs in Leh involving an expenditure of Rs. 148 crore has already been submitted to the Central Government for funding.
Omar Abdullah also met various deputations and heard their grievances and demands pertaining to the speedy development in the rural areas of Leh district.
The Chief Minister assured them that the genuine demands would be actively considered for implementation. He asked the district administration to register the demands and reflect these in the next Plan.
Minister for Finance, Abdul Rahim Rather, Minister for Tourism, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Chief Executive Councilor, LHDC, Leh, Rigzin Salbar and Councillor of Phyang besides senior officers were accompanying the Chief Minister.
