J&K surpasses other states in corruption: Rajnath Singh

Jammu, May 29 (Scoop News) –      Expressing his concern over the unparalleled scale of corruption in Jammu and Kashmir, which possibly surpasses corruption in any other state of the country, BJP senior leader  & Head of the BJP Parliamentarian Study  Group on Jammu and Kashmir Sh. Rajnath Singh has said that the “Special Status” conferred on this state by the Indian Constitution has, instead of ensuring the welfare of common masses, given impunity to the NC- Congress coalation government to indulge in massive corruption without accountability.

Rajnath Singh made this observation after giving a patient hearing  to  each of the delegations that came to meet him during the second day of the 3rd tour of BJP Parliamentarian Study Group on Jammu and Kashmir at Batote on Tuesday.  He was assisted by BJP National Executive Member & State Chief Spokesperson Dr. Jitendra Singh, who prepared a detailed note of the interaction for further follow up.

Over two dozen deputations drawn from different sections of the society and  different regions called on the Study Group at Batote to convey their grievances and present memoranda of demands. The deputations were mostly drawn from hilly districts of Ramban, Doda and Kishtawar

Some important delegations that called on Rajnath Singh included deputation of VDCs, who demanded hike in their honorarium and regretted that the Dileep Padgaonkar- led Interlocutor Report  had failed  to address their issues . Deputations of Batote and other   surrounding areas complained that  the foreign company undertaking the  construction work of tunnel between  Chennani  and Batote has been influenced by the ruling party MP & MLAs to engage their recommended persons  even for unskilled labour. Most of the Muslim deputations from  Banihal , Batote ,Doda and Malhari-Marmat complained that there was gross discrimination by the government against the Muslims of Jammu,  while  the lion’s share in the government jobs was taken away by Kashmiri Muslims because of the  partisan approach of the coalition government. Significantly the delegation of Panches and Sarpanches ,including both Hindus  and Muslims, from the region demanded  immediate implementation of the 73rd and 74th Amendments of the Indian Constitution to ensure full employment of the local bodies. Deputations of surrendered militants presented a list of the problems being faced by them.

Rajnath Singh assured that the problem of Jammu & Kashmir will be taken up by the party in the Parliament & other forums because  the real state of  affairs prevailing in Jammu and Kashmir was not known to the rest of the country and the government nominated interlocutors has not taken into considerations  the common people, who were suffering because of corruption, discrimination and mis-governance. He said that even though BJP is not in power in J&K,  the party will try to  build pressure on the government to rectify total collapse of administration  and lack of accountability

Rajnath Singh was accompanied by National Executive Member & Chief Spokesperson Dr Jitendra Singh, State Vice-President Bali Bhagat  and State Pres secretary Balbir Ram, while the inchange of the tour was State General Secretary Satish Sharma .

Some of the  other important delegations that called on Rajnath Singh included Advocates Deputation from Banihal, Muslims Deputation from villages under Banihal tehsil, Unemployed Educated Youth from Ramban and Doda  and Terrorism  Affected People from  Tehsil Khilaini.

Earlier, during stop over at Udhampur,  Study Group was called upon by Senior Citizens Forum, Kashmiri Pandit Migrant Association and Progressive Citizens Council.
