Video: Journalist Deported after Filming Protest in Tiananmen Square
BEIJING, China -- On August 10, 2008 GroundReport correspondent Noel Hidalgo was deported after videotaping a Tibetan protest, featured here, that took place in Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
The Chinese government's hard line on censoring insavory coverage has highlighted the importance of citizen journalists like Noel Hidalgo.
Mr. Hidalgo's travel to Beijing was sponsored by the activist group that staged the protest, Students for a Free Tibet. He was deported from China later that day on August 10, 2008 for photographing and documenting protests.

calling "noneck noel" a journalist is far fetched.. He was paid to be there and part of the protesting team.. This was a waste of one's freedom of movement, now these people are deported, and will never be allowed back in china.. all for what, 5 minutes of fame on a back channel! Lame!
Rating: No RatingWow Noel. Way to rock the citizen journalism.
Rating: No RatingThat's ridiculous. That was not the time, nor the place to stage a protest. People need to learn something about manners and hospitality.
