Kashmir Chief takes stock of ongoing works in Srinagar



Srinagar, March 5 (Scoop News) – The Divisional Commissioner, Dr. Asgar Samoon accompanied by various senior officers visited historical Lal chowk and took stock of various ongoing works. During his visit a deputation of traders of Lal chowk also met him and apprised about their problems.


            Divisional Commissioner assured the deputations that their genuine demands would be fullfilled and demand of construction of various gutted buildings would be taken up with the concerned quarters. The buildings include Gandasingh Building, Dharamshala Building, Coronation Hotel and Punjab Hotel.


            The Divisional Commissioner informed the traders that the steps have been taken for restoration of its glory. He appealed the traders to make full cooperation in this connection. He also visited Paladium Gali and Court road and took stock of ongoing work of drainage and other works and instructed the concerned authorities to complete the ongoing development works in stipulated time.


            Earlier, the Divisional Commissioner convened a joint meeting of divisional officers and prominent traders of Lal Chowk and took stock of developmental works of historical Lal Chowk. He was informed that Rs. 1.58 crore was utilized for the glory of Lal Chowk by the Tourism department and Rs. 38.50 lakh were spent by the Municipal Corporation for construction of various works while as PDD installed Halogen Lights in Lal Chowk at a cost of 25 lakh and Rs. 6.86 lakh were booked for water supply in Lal Chowk by the PHE department.


            In addition, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed various issues on Naagar Nagar Township in a second meeting and was informed that a project report for Rs. 50 crore has been submitted to the government of India for according necessary sanction under which the historical places would be preserved and developed. On this occasion, a power point presentation on the Naagar Nagar project was given to the Divisional Commissioner.
