Khaleda Zia may be freed soon, Advisor said



Imprisoned BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia may be freed soon unconditionally before her detained elder son Tareq Rahman, an advisor of interim government hinted while the advisor was talking with the newsmen in secretariat. Khaleda Zia and Tareq, both are detained for graft charge. Another son of Khaleda Zia, Arafat Raman Coco, was released from jail under parole a week ago by an executive order of the interim government and went Bangkok for medical treatment. Coco was also sent to jail for corruption charge.


Advisor Golam Kader, a retired Major General of Army, on July 24, 2008 said the release of Khaleda Zia is under process. He was not able to mention any dateline any way. Advisor told to the press that the release of Khaleda Zia and Tareq Rahman are different issues. Rather issue of Sheik Hasina is similar to Khaleda Zia and authorities are considering the in the same out look. Khaleda Zia could be freed before tareq, Mr.Kader hinted. Replying to a question Advisor said that the withdrawal of the State of Emergency is depending on the local government election scenario. On the basis of the experience of local government election government will take decision on the issue, he added. #
