LET THE SMILES PREVAIL IN KASHMIR: PFP

Islamabad:

Press for Peace (PFP), an independent human rights body on Saturday welcomed the decision of India and Pakistan to open new routes between Jammu and Kashmir to facilitate divided citizens and boost peace process.

On Friday, India and Pakistan pledged to work together to fight terrorism and resolve the longstanding dispute over the Himalayan region of Kashmir.

Both India and Pakistan claim their territorial rights over pre-partition independent state of Jammu & Kashmir. Both the rivals have fought two of the three wars over the region since independence from British rule.

While both sides agreed on Friday that the two days of meetings had been "productive" and "cordial", Zafar Iqbal, Chief Executive Press for Peace says “Kashmiris will no more believe on diplomatic girdles over Kashmir, they need clear and just understanding of the issue.”

He said the people of Jammu & Kashmir will no more accept the so called progress on “minor issues” only.

“Let the smiles prevail in Kashmir and make those people realize that parties to the issue have finally agreed to resolve it,” he added.
