Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Kifayat Rizvi, DIG SKR, S. A. Wattali, DIG CRPF, Neeraj Kumar, SSP, Anantnag, R.K. Jalla, SPs of Kulgam, Mubasir Latifi, Pulwama, Amit Kumar, Shopian, Mumtaz and wantipora, Muhammad Irshad, besides several other senior police officers attended the meeting.
Expressing serious concern over alarming rise in consumption of illicit drugs in Anantnag and adjoining districts, the Minister asked the police authorities to squeeze the activities of people involved in poppy cultivation and narcotics trade. “The menace of drug addiction has gripped the Valley with mostly youngsters falling into the trap. We need to put an end to this menace and crack down on poppy cultivators and drug traffickers,” he maintained.
Earlier, DIG SKR briefed the Minister in detail about matters pertaining to the law-and-order and general security situation in
SSP, Anantnag and SPs of Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Awantipora, in separate presentations, briefed the Minister about policing in their respective districts.
Asking the magistracy to be proactive and in the forefront to defuse emerging law-and-order situations, the Minister called upon police and civil administrations to establish closer coordination to achieve the desired.

The Minister once again reiterated his commitment to prioritize the issues of personnel management, up-gradation of police posts, sanction of new police stations, filling up of vacant posts, training of personnel, procurement of new vehicles and special recruitment drives.
