Mehbooba regretted instead of working in democratic manner, attitude of J&K CM totally autocratic
Reacting to the reply given by government in the J &K Legislative Assembly, Mehbooba Mufti said that meetings of District Development Boards (DDB) have failed to fulfill its spirit as government has been working in vindictive manner. She especially mentioned how MLAs of opposition parties were snubbed in the District Development Board meetings of Rajouri and Pulwama. “What to say of releasing additionalties for the development of the constituencies represented by opposition especially by the PDP, the Chief Minister even threatened not to release funds to areas represented by PDP MLAs”, she said and pointed out that during DDB meeting Chief Minister threatened PDP MLAs that he would not release funds for their constituencies as their workers were protesting against shortage of ration.
Meetings of DDB have failed to fulfill the spirit as most of the decisions were taken in these meetings by Chief Minister himself and local MLAs were not taken into confidence, she said while mentioning towards the decisions which were taken in the constituencies represented by PDP MLAs.
What is fun of convening meeting of DDB when Chief Minister himself has to take the final decisions?, she asked and stated that performance of this government appears only on papers because all developmental work have been stalled. She said that even some decisions taken in the DDB meetings were not implemented.
Earlier she asked the government about the steps contemplated to check the tendency of releasing funds in the fag end of the financial year there by effecting the execution of developmental works adversely particularly in Kashmir Valley.
During the Zero Hour, Leader of Opposition raised the issue of not allowing candidates of Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Reasi, Kishtwar and Doda districts in the physical test for recruitment of Sub Inspectors in the Jammu and Kashmir Police despite being that their counter parts of Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua and Samba were given second chance.
She said some candidates could not appear in the physical test due to their examinations so they were given second chance. She, however, pointed out that discriminatory policy was adopted in giving second chance as candidates of Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Reasi, Kishtwar and Doda districts were not given such chance. As she drew attention of the government towards this discriminatory step, Finance Minister Adbul Rahim Rather assured on behalf of the Government that he would look into this issue.
