Modalities for setting up Composite Centre in J&K discussed



 


Srinagar,September 23 (Scoop News) – Modalities for setting up a Composite Cultural Centre for preservation and development of cultural heritage of Gujjars, Bakerwals and Pahari speaking communities, was discussed threadbare here at an officers meeting.


Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Ittoo chaired the meeting while Vice Chairman, Pahari Speaking Development Board,  Mustaq Ahmad Bukhari was also present.


The meeting deliberated on the issues pertaining to the establishment of Composite Cultural Centre in the State. A host of issues including location, design of building, resource and land availability came up under discussion in the meeting. 


Pertinently, the establishment of Cultural Centre for holistic development of cultural heritage of these communities in Jammu and Kashmir has been agreed to by the Prime Minister.


The meeting decided to recommend Jammu as the headquarter for the Composite Culture Centre and setting up its three sub centres in Rajouri, Kulgam and Kupwara districts.


Addressing the meeting, the Minister asked Secretary, Social Welfare to finalize the modalities in consultation with the Prime Minister’s Office on priority so that the high profile heritage promotion centre is made functional in the shortest possible time. She called for taking into account population proportion of all these communities while submitting proposal to the Centre for securing financial resources.


Among others, the meeting was attended by Secretary, Social Welfare, Secretary, Gujjar and Bakerwal Advisory Board and other officers of the department.
