Need to enhance quality of adjudication: Judges
A total of 150 delegates drawn from 7 North Indian states are attending this prestigious conference on improving the quality of adjudication to improve delivery of justice. The main purpose of this regional conference is to discuss how quality of adjudication is to be defined, measured, measured, monitored and enhanced. The conference is going to offer the participants a detailed and comprehensive quality frame work including quality standard, performance measures and measurement system. The conference in focusing on defining quality, measuring and monitoring and accountability of quality of adjudication. The desired out come of the conference is raising awareness and detailed knowledge of participant judges on how, quality of adjudication may be defined, measured, monitored and improved.
The Judges of Supreme Court and various High Courts delivered lectures on the topic and settled the queries of the delegates relating to the impediments hampering the timely delivery of justice. A healthy interaction was witnessed between the judicial officers from various states and the Hon’ble Judges.
Among others, Justice B. S. Chouhan from Supreme Court of India, Justice F. M. Ibrahim Kalifullah, Justice Varinder Singh, Justice Hakim Imtyaj Hussain from JK High Court, Justice Sidharath Mridhul of Delhi High Court, Director National Judicial Academy, G. Mohan Gopal discussed in length the presented part of judgments of important nature and awared the judicial officers about the latest trends in judicial system.
Justice B. S. Chouhan cited a number if instances of remarkable judgments and exhorted upon the judicial officers to be innovative rather than opting for traditional mode of writing judgment.
Justice F. M. Kalifullah of JK High Court while addressing Judicial Officers exhorted upon the judicial officers to keep themselves abreast of the latest developments and enrich their knowledge with the help of latest information technology available with them. He also stressed for quantitative approach without compromising with the quality of justice delivered.
Noted Jurist and retired Judge of Supreme Court of India Justice S. B. Sinha also threw light on enhancing the quality of adjudication. The delegates were blessed to have such a judicial dignitary among them were shared his beautiful experience with them.
