Omar expresses satisfaction on 50 % completion of targets inspite of turmoil
Pulwama/Srinagar, December 14 (Scoop News) – “While pursuing the accomplishment of the targets fixed for the various developmental works in the district, the quality of the works should never be compromised’’ said the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to the heads of the various of the departments and district while chairing the District Development Board meeting of Shopian.
Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Itoo, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Science & Technology, Aga Syed Rohulla, Political Advisor to Chief Minister, Devendra Rana, Vice Chairman of Gujjar and Bakerwal Advisory Board, Bashir Ahmed Naz, MLA Shopian, Abdul Razak Zawoora, MLC, Showkat Ganai, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, B. B. Vyas, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon, IGP Kashmir, S. M Sahai, Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, M.S Sood and all heads of departments district heads etc were present in Shopian board meeting whileas the board meeting of Pulwama was also attended by, besides the Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Itoo who is also the Chairperson of the Board, MLA, Pulwama, Mohammad Khalil Bandh, MLA, Rajpora, Syeed Bashir Ahmed, MLA, Pampora, Mir Zahoor, MLA Tral, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah and MLC, Bashir Ahmed Magray, Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, Mohammad Afzal, all Heads of the departments and district heads .
At Shopian board meeting, the Chief Minister appreciated the officers for executing works under different sectors to the extent of 56% against the allocation of Rs. 5388 lakh. He also announced additionalties of over Rs. 2.25 crores.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Shopian District Development Board, Aga Syed Rohullah welcoming the Chief Minister and other guests, assured the Chief Minister that work on the execution of projects and schemes would be stepped up and asked the District Officers to work with added zeal and dedication to complete the works within the stipulated time.
On this occasion, MLA, Shopian and MLC also projected their demands of their respective areas.
Vice Chairman, Gujjar and Bakerwal Advisory Board, Bashir Ahmed Naz appreciated the performance of the Chief Minister despite the un-rest in the valley. He highlighted the demands with regard to the welfare of Gujjar and Bakerwal Community. He demanded construction of shelter sheds at Peer Ki Gali on the Mughal road so that Gujjar and Bakerwals could take shelter for their live stock in case of inclement weather.
Earlier, the DDC, Shopian while welcoming the Chief Minister and other guests, said at present 29 schemes are under execution in R& B sector on which Rs. 369 lakh have been spent so far. About 60 kms road length has been black topped/shingled while two bridges are in progress.
He said five water supply schemes are under execution under District Plan involving expenditure of Rs. 11.93 crore upto November 2010. Of this two Water Supply Schemes Pinjura- Hazratbal and Reban-Khugan Pora have been completed which will provide drinking water to 15523 souls of 9 villages.
Under Education Sector, the DDC informed that 28847 students have been provided mid day meals, 2900 students of Gujjar and Bakerwal Community and 1900 Pahari speaking students were provided scholarships and 35000 free text books.
The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah appreciated the district administration, Pulwama for achieving 59% expenditure against the availability of Rs. 43.21 crores. He asked the officers to redouble their efforts to achieve the cent-percent target. However, there should be no compromise on the quality of work, he added. He announced release of additionally of Rs. 3.15 crore for completion of various developmental works in the district.
On this occasion, MLA and MLC’s of the District also projected various demands of their constituencies also.
Earlier, the District Development Commissioner, Pulwama, Mohammad Afzal gave a detailed resume of the developmental activities being carried out in the district and informed that 35 Water Supplies Schemes are presently under execution at an estimated cost of Rs. 39.19 crore against which Rs. 21.23 crore have been incurred so far. Of these schemes, 6 Water Supply Schemes are expected to be completed during current fiscal, providing drinking water facilities to 30730 souls of 20 villages.
The DDC further informed that under IAY 722 houses have been taken up, of which 140 have been completed. Afzal also informed the meeting that 159 works have been taken up under MG-NERGA, of which 107 works have been completed generating 201397mandays of work.
He said that two major irrigation schemes are under execution at an estimated cost of Rs. 29.70 crore and Rs. 129.02 crore against which Rs. 6.53 crore and Rs. 62.13 crore stands utilized upto ending November 2010.
