Over Two Thousend Dengue Patients And Thirty Four Deaths In Sri Lanka From June



Two Thousend Sixty Five Dengue Patients and Thirty Four Deaths reported throughout Sri Lanka from the first 11 days of June alone according to the Epoidemeology Unit here.This number is higher than the Total Number of Dengue Patients and related Deaths reported throughout last year according to the Unit.


From January upto now this year around Nine Thousend One Hundred Twelve Dengue Patients and One Hundred Twenty Eight Deaths were reported throughout the Island as the most number of Dengue Deaths are reported from the  Districts of Kandy(24),Colombo(13) and Gampaha(21).


Meanwhile Ministry of Health today says that a Tests carriedout by the laboratory of the Singapore National University Proved that Nintey Percent of the Flue Patients reported from Sri Lanka are infected with the Dengue Virus.Ninteen out of Twenty Blood Samples of Sri Lankan Fever Patients  tested by the Lab proved this.Even the tests carriedout by the Medical Research Institute proved this according to the Ministry.Tests are  continues further by the Researchers of the Lab led by Professor Gubbler  to findout the Cause of  the increasing number of Dengue Deaths reported this year from  Sri Lanka.


Researchers are testing Blood Samples taken from the Dengue Suspected Persons here to see whether a change of the Genetic Pattern or the Virus caused these Deaths as most of the Cases were died after developing Dengue Shock Syndrome.
