PDP flays Govt for shortage of Water, electricity, despite projects like Salal, Baghliar in J&K

Jammu, June 27 - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ) today condemned theNC-Congress Coalition Govt for failing to come to the expectations of the common masses, so much so that the basic necessaties of life like electricity and water are a distant dream for the people of the State now in this regime.

In a press statement, A K Sawhney ( Advocate ) Spokesman of the PDP, said that there is acute dearth of basic needs like Water and Electricity.

Mr Sawhney said that in this scorching summer heat, the Govt seems to be totally helpless in the essential matters of water and electricity.He said that despite the State of J&K having power projects like,Baghliar, Salal, Dulhasti etc still there is a dearth of power in the state and people are crying for power? It is only due to the wrong policies of the State Govt. The Govt has sold out its projects and has not kept any share for the State in the said power, said Sawhney.

He reminded that when PDP Patron Mr Mufti Mohd Sayeed took over the reigns of the State as Chief Minister, he ensured that the power curtailment reached zero degree and ensured hassle free power supply in Jammu as well as Kashmir.

Today the state of affairs is that there are areas in Jammu region where there is power for 8-10 hours .

The PDP spokesman said that the people of the State are suffering due the fact that there is unscheduled power cuts and the Govt has maintained a criminal silence in the matter. Moreso, though the over head tanks are being constructed but Jammu is reeling under deep water crisis, so the tanks are useless. He also highlighted the fact that an Overhead tank at Paloura in Jammu collapsed, but the Govt kept its eyes closed and no action was taken against the erring officials of the PHE, the engineers and the Contractors. The Public money is being looted like anything, said Sawhney.

He further said that there is acute shortage of water in the Jammu and warned the Govt that in case the Govt is not in a position to solve the basic problems of the people of state like "Bijli & Pani " then the Govt has no moral right to hold on to their chairs, and the Ministers should resign said Sawhney.

He warned the Govt that in case corrective measures are not taken for Water supplies and Power supply in Jammu, the PDP will start a mass agitation on these basic issues in the State.Sawhney alleged the Govt has miserably failed to come to theexpectations of the people.
