Protest against Wapda longest load shedding
Town Power committee Protested against longest load shedding.
CHITRAL: Town Power committee protested against longest and unscheduled load shedding in Chitral. The protest public meeting was presided over by Khan Hayatulla Khan president of town power committee. They said that there is no a single power theft case in Chitral and people of the entire district pay their monthly utility bills regularly and chairman wapda also had assured that there would be no load shedding in those areas where there is no power theft but even than there is 14 hours continue load shedding in Chitral. They said that chairman Wapda has assured for up-gradation of local hydro power house but he did not vow his promise. They also criticized DCO, DPO, DORE and district administration who badly failed in solving load shedding problem. They also lamented district police and alleged them for patronizing and supporting drug trafficker and narcotics seller in Chitral as a result youth of Chitral drug addicted. The anger protesters criticized provincial minister Saleem Khan for his failure in getting No Objection Certificate from Chief Minister for construction of 4 Megawatt hydro power by a private firm because Wapda failed badly in supplying of electricity to its consumers. They also passed an unanimous resolution in the protest meeting. Through a resolution they demanded for posting out of District Coordination officer from Chitral who badly failed in solving energy crises . They demanded for posting of District Police Officer because he causing for worrying peaceful public of Chitral and take no action against drug traffickers. Through a resolution they demanded for inter linking (connecting) Drosh, Reshun, Singor power houses and diesel generator and government should to assure 24 hours electricity supply to town area including Balach, Singor and Shahmirandih villages. they also demanded to lock Wapda/Pesco office until solving this problem. They said that consumers of Chitral paying 90 million rupees per annum but Wapda not spend a single penny on up-gradation and improvement of hydro power station. Giving a deadline of one week they warned if their genuine demands were not fulfilled within stimulated period of 1 week they will come on roads again and will take stern action and all of its responsibilities will put on shoulders of administration. Protest meeting was disbursed peacefully. During protest public meeting there was also shutter down strike and all shops were closed.
