SSRB blatantly tampers with history of J&K

Jammu -Instead of filling vacancies in a transparent manner the state Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) is busy scripting new history of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmir Independent Press (KIP), said in a news bulletin on Friday.

Already under attack from various quarters for committing series of irregularities in the selection list of Naib Tehsildar examination, handpicking kin of influential people right under the nose of honest and upright Chief Minister Omar Abdullah SSRB has now been accused of tampering with the history of Jammu as well, said in a KIP news bulletin

According to Q.NO 74 of the written test paper of Naib Tehsildar examination the students were asked a direct question-- Who is the founder of Jammu city ?

While reading the question the students must have felt happy as they claimed to have known the correct answer.

The options which were given to the students confused them.

1. Hari Singh
2. Ranbir Singh
3. Udayan Dev
4. Ramachandra-I

KIP, a  leading News agency of J&K  said that the official records of the state government and even the government websites, online encyclopedia claim that the city of Jammu was originally founded by Jambu Lochan and it is under his name the city of temples was named Jambu Nagar and with the passage of time the city came to be known as Jammu.

Ironically the answer key of the SSRB Naib Tehsildar examination suggest that the right answer to the above question was Ramachandra-I.

It is difficult to find a  history book available in Jammu which has not mentioned name of Raja Jambu Lochan as founder of the Jammu city.

This was not the only question where history was tampered with. There were several others which left more than 33000 students confused.

According to Q.NO 100 King Hari Singh reigned over Jammu and Kashmir between

1. 1925-1952
2. 1927-1947
3. 1925-1948
4. 1927-1952

Official records clearly suggest that Hari Singh ascended to the throne of Jammu and Kashmir in 1925 after the death of his uncle Sri Pratap Singh and he signed instrument of accession on October 26, 1947.

According to the answer key of SSRB examination the correction answer is 1925-1952

It means SSRB is trying to convey that despite India attaining freedom the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir was still ruled by Hari Singh even after signing the instrument of accession.

According to question no 99 the students were asked to reply the total area of Jammu is
11273 sq miles
10748 s miles
12723 s miles
11978 sq miles

the question does not specify whether it was asked for Jammu district alone or Jammu division. the above options were incorrect.

Another question was Dipetheria is caused by the bacterial infection of
1. Lungs
2. Heart
3. Nasal Passage
4. Throat

SSRB key says Diptheria is caused by Heart.
But doctors deny this claim straightforward.

There are at least 8 other similar questions with either more than one correct option or incorrect options. Despite all these errors in the original question paper the topper of the list has managed to secure 118/120 marks and the students are still confused as to how it is possble for someone to score almost 100 percent marks or it raises a question mark in the suspicious mind of the student community that the topper and kin of influential people must have access to the answer key and easily secured their berth in the selection list. The Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues who are drum beating their achievements on setting up vigilance commission, information commission owe a simple reply to the aggrieved students how is this possible.(KIP)
