Sen. Kirk Watson Pummeled On National TV
Thank You Chris Matthews!!
He was able to bring up an vitally important issue to the fray. He was able to bring to the forefront the politicians that simply jumped on the Barack Obama bandwagon blindly.
State Senator Kirk Watson (TX) appeared on MSNBC's primary coverage as they previewed they upcoming Democratic primaries in Ohio and Texas. Mathews asks him, "tell me what bills has Obama been a part of in Congress?"
He danced around the subject only to be brought back by the gruff hardballer". The back and forth went along. Watson continued to talk about how Obama "inspired" him and that he would be a viable candidate.
In the end, Watson gave in and said he knew nothing about the Illinois senator.
Right then and there, Mathews and Keith Olbermann as well as various studio crew members broke out in laughter.
Then the former Sports Center anchor came up was the shaprest at his punchiest. "Well, in Obama's defense Chris, can you name the last piece of legislation that the United States Congress has been involved in in the past seven years?"
That generated a roar all over the 30 Rock studios in New York City.- the highlight of a rather predicatable night.
Either this was the most boneheaded move in the Obama campaign, or someone was sabotaging it.
Texas politicians at their best! Wow, what were my parents thinking when they voted for Bush - twice!

HILLARY VS. OBAMA LEGISLATIVE RECORDS: Doesn't matter... The Republican attack machine will run against the image of an underqualified black man elevated by affirmative action. they will say we should not entrust national security to someone whose biggest life experiences are the Illinois State Legislature and a bunch of speeches. They will contrast him w/ the experienced war hero Alpha male. Unfortunately, McCain is destined to be our next pres & Obama will be made into hamburger. Clinton would be able to defend herself on the experience charge. She is the best nominee for Democrats, that is if the party actually wants to win.
Rating: No RatingIf you were able to make through this uncomfortable exchange last night (I did), then you know that in the end, Chis Matthews looked no better than Kirk Watson, but both of them looked like fools, and there was no excuse for it! Chris Matthews beat up on Barack Obama's "supporter" (if you can call him that) but treated Hillary's supporter (Stephanie Tubbs Jones) with kid gloves and never once demanded of her the info he demanded of Kirk Watson. If I were Barack Obama, I would furious! The only weakness in Barack Obama's campaign right now is that he has no articulate / well-informed person to speak on his behalf to the Press, and Hillary Clinton is surrounded by an army of P.R. pros who make her look look and constantly attack her opponent. Kirk Watson's appearance on MSNBC last night was embarrassing, but I would assume that very soon, the Obama camp will send out well-informed supporters to make their case for them! And when they do, it's all over... HILLARY VS. OBAMA LEGISLATIVE RECORDS: During Obama's first (8) eight years of elected service (in Illinois) he sponsored over 820 bills - 233 regarding healthcare reform, 125 on poverty and public assistance, 112 crime fighting bills, 97 economic bills, 60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills, 21 ethics reform bills, 15 gun control, 6 veterans affairs and many others. IN ADDITION, DURING HIS FIRST YEAR IN THE U.S. SENATE, HE AUTHORED 152 BILLS AND CO-SPONSORED ANOTHER 427. THESE INCLUDED: *The Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 (became law) *The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, (became law) *The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, (passed by the Senate) *The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, (became law) *The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, (In committee) In all, since he entered the US Senate, Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1,096. AN IMPRESSIVE RECORD, FOR SOMEONE WHO SUPPOSEDLY "HAS NO RECORD" Hillary Clinton, who has served for six (6) straight years in the US Senate. and claims to know how to "GET THINGS DONE" has managed to author and pass into law only twenty (20) pieces of legislation, and only five (5) of those had any real substance: 1. Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11. 2. Pay for city projects in response to 9/11 3. Assist landmine victims in other countries. 4. Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care. 5. Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the wilderness preservation system. Hillary's one notable vote: SUPPORTING THE PLAN TO INVADE IRAQ, which she has since disavowed and twisted, but refuses to admit was a mistake. Barack Obama, however, is the only '08 Democratic Presidential Candidate who had the good judgment to oppose the war from day one. This is no contest!
