Sin City Soon to Rise in the Capital
Sinners, gamblers, schemers and conceit driven individuals will no longer hied to Las Vegas, the gambling capital of the world, to play casino and sleep with sexy bunnies in the strip joints, or visit Macao, Asia’s gambling capital, to while away extravagantly.
The Philippine Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) is now readying to construct “Gambling City” which will be situated in a 90,000 hectares reclamation area near Manila Bay. A neon-lighted resort hotels, theme parks, bars and casinos will be constructed to complement the “Sin City’s” attractions which could rival the two gambling capitals.
According to PAGCOR, the cost of the project is estimated at $15 billion which will be funded by foreign investors but spare the government from spending its own money to fund the costly project. The Sin City is expected to bring 200,000 jobs and high revenue collections for the central government.
Although, the intention of the project is good in some way or the other, the proposed Sin City will not only generate employments and added cash for the government coffer but it will also create prostitutions, family break-up, bankruptcy and criminality.
The Catholic Church is divided in the putting up of Sin City in the country. Bishops who receives PAGCOR money back the project, while the rest reacted sparingly. The people’s gumption definitely lost on the issue of Sin City and a welcoming gesture seems on the green light. The country is now heading to San Andreas of the GTA Vice City where cars, women and toughies heighten up the passion of high octane activities.
