Speaker stresses for impartial coverage of budget session

Jammu,February 18 (Scoop News) –   Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly  Mohammad Akbar Lone today stressed upon the media to cover the proceedings of the Assembly session in a fair and impartial manner.

He was speaking at the meeting of Press Advisory Committee (PAC) convened here today.

He said media has a vital role in democratic set up to highlight the functioning of Government and put forth the suggestions for effective implementation of Government programmes and policies. He asked both print and electronic media to cover the proceedings of the House up to the people’s expectations in a positive manner within its parameters. He said equitable coverage of legislators participating in discussion, debates and other related business should be ensured in a better way.

The meeting discussed in detail about parking of vehicles and issuance of passes to media persons. The meeting also deliberated upon the facilities like residential accommodation to be provided to the media persons belonging to Kashmir Valley.

Among others, Secretary Assembly  M. Ramzan, ADG Security, Dr. Ram Lubhaya, Inspector General of Police  H. K. Lohia, Director Information, Kh. Farooq Renzushah, Director Doordarshan Kendra Jammu  Shabir Ahmad Bhat, Director News,  Bashir Malik and the Members of Press Advisory Committee besides officers of Information department and Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
