Sri Lankan Health Minister To Meet Indian Home Minister And Discuss On Eraant Indian Drug Suppliers
Sri Lankan Health Minister Maithrepala Sirisena is to meet Indian Union Home Minister Gulam Nabi Azaad during this Month in New Delhi to discuss implementing a Joint Mechanism on Indian Drug Companies who are supplying Sub Standard Drugs and delaying the supply of Drugs to Sri Lankan Government Hospitals.
According to the Health Ministry Sources the two ministers are due to hold this discussion at state level.Few weeks back the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Ashoka K Kantha had met Health Minister Maithrepala at the Health Ministry to discuss on these errant Indian drug suppliers and it has been reported that the Indian high commissioner even asked the health minister to inform the details of these drug suppliers to indian government for legal action.
However the Health Ministry has not taken any legal action on these errant drug suppliers up to now and only charged the surety bond deposited by those suppliers.
