What would a President do before leaving office?
Imagine you are a president and you have realised that you will soon be leaving office, handing over to a new president who comes from the opposition. What would you do?
This is what the recent former president of Ghana did a day before leaving office.
1. He granted unconditional pardon to ministers and officials in the former government who were jailed by his own government for controversially 'causes financial loss' to the state.
2. He reinstated a police official recommended prosecution by someone he himself has appointed to be Chief Justice. This official has been on interdiction for about two years.
3. He dropped charges levelled against the wife of his predecessor who has been going to the courts for about a year for 'causing financial loss' to the state. The relationship between him and the former first familly could only be described as accrimonious.
4. He increased public sector salaries between 16 to 36 percent.
All the above and more were done just a day before his term of office expires.
The question that comes to people is would he have done all these if his party candidate won?
