Not many people may know who Brock Lesnar is. Those who had kept up with professional wrestling and mixed martial arts should know about Brock Lesnar. Lesnar is an amateur wrestler who won the 2000 NCAA wrestling championship.
Afterwards, Lesnar joined World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). He was the 2002 King of the Ring, 2003 Royal Rumble Winner, and a three-time WWE champion.
He would eventually leave the WWE and join the NFL to play for the Minnesota Vikings. However, he would be cut. And then, Lesnar would wrestle in Japan for New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Last year, Lesnar went into mixed martial arts. In fall of 2007, Lesnar signed with the UFC.
This was a historic win for professional wrestlers and the world of mixed martial arts. Lesnar went up against UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture at UFC 91 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Lesnar defeated Couture in the second round by a TKO. When he knocked Couture down, Lesnar did not waist any time for the good ol’ “ground and pound.” The fight ended with Lesnar becoming the new UFC Heavyweight champion.
This is the first time that a person transitioned from a professional wrestling circuit such as WWE into professional mixed-martial arts fighting to win a championship belt. Lesnar is the first WWE wrestler to win a championship belt in the world of MMA.
Lesnar’s physical stars are: 6’3 and 275 lbs.
Couture’s physical stats are: 6’2 and 220 lbs.
When being introduced as the new UFC Heavyweight Champion, Lesnar said he could not believe it. He said that the hard work put forth had paid off.
