THE ARMY GENERAL WHO IS SHAKING UP MEXICO

BorderReporter Region: Mexico

A Tijuana news Web site is reporting 15 dead in at least two different shootouts in Tijuana this morning. One of the victims was wearing a federal police uniform, the paper says; though that means nothing since cops work for traffickers who dress like cops all the time. A few of the dead were headshots, which makes me wonder if this was a battle or an execution - or both. The virulent city is in even more of an uproar... more

Murder and Photographs in a Small Town in Mexico

BorderReporter Region: Mexico

The hit, when it went down, was perfect. The photographer was shot five times, with a tiro de gracia to the head. He collapsed by the torta stand, his five-year-old son in shock, clutching the dead body. No motive was ever given, but everyone understood the game. The photojournalist had captured a shot of a local narco-trafficker during a party he was hired to shoot. The narco assumed he was there in his role as a jou... more

Silva Flies High In Clásico

Juan Arango Region: Mexico

Despite high-profile signings and being under the spotlight persistently, América's season was going nowhere fast. Enter Daniel Brailovsky. As of right now, he was the right man to bring in having leave the TV studio (for a little while at least) to coach once again.  He is one that knows and feels the history of being an Águila and feeling that azulcrema jersey.  To make things even bet... more
