Anantnag, September 05(Scoop News)-The valedictory function of two days’ disaster preparedness training programme organised by Civil Defence was held at Govt. Degree College Anantnag on Wednesday.
More than 50 students and staff members of the College were imparted training in First Aid, Fire Fighting, Search and Rescue.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Additional Director General of Police, Civil Defence, Home Guards and SDRF Ms. D.R. Dolley Burman. Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr Farooq Ahmed Lone presided over the function. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were DIG South Kashmir Vijay Kumar, DIG Civil Defence Mubarak Ahmed Ganai, SSP Anantnag Ramesh Kumar Jalla, Commandant SDRF 1st Bn Mehraj Ahmed Shah, Deputy Controller CD Anantnag, SP, Mohammed Yusuf Mir, Principal Government Degree College Prof. Zahoor Ahmed Chat and Vice Principal Prof Ali Mohammed Dar.
The programme was also attended by Deputy Director Fire & Emergency Services Anantnag Abdul Rehman Wani, Dy. Chief Warden and Executive Engineer REW Aamir Ali, Divisional Wardens CD Anantnag including Tasaduq Rashid and Dr. Pooja. The training was conducted by Dr. IPS Bali for First Aid, Abdul Gaffar for Search and Rescue, Ghulam Mohammed Itoo for Fire fighting, Sartaj Parray for gas safety device and also Shoukat Gas, authorised dealers of Hindustan Petroleum Gas for safe use of LPG.
Speaking on the occasion Miss Dolley Burman stated that Civil Defence is committed to provide life saving skills to members of the community and that Civil Defence has embarked on an ambitious programme to impart such trainings at all educational institutions throughout the State. She hoped that the volunteers that undergo the training would provide active support to the Civil administration in the event of any disaster.
DC Anantnag Dr Farooq Ahmed Lone appreciated Civil Defence for having organised the training and urged that that similar trainings should be held at all Tehsil and Block headquarters so that a team of trained first responders is created to tackle any disaster.
He offered to provide financial support out of SDRF and Red Cross funds for conducting such trainings. Certificates of participation were distributed amongst the trainees. Later, a mock drill was held in which the students actively participated.
