Jammu, April 28 (Scoop News) – Describing teachers as makers and pillar of a harmonious society, Minister for Medical and Technical Education, R. S. Chib today exhorted them to become role models, as they wield great influence on their students.
The Minister was speaking at the Annual Day Function of the Narula’s The First Step Preparatory School at Police Auditorium, here today.
“Concentrate on carving out a knowledge based society rather than information based”, he told the teachers, hoping while working on the tiny tots they will strive for making them morally so strong that they can overcome their shortcomings and face the world with much more confidence and vigour.
The Minister said the parents too have an equal role in moulding their children by imbibing spirit of togetherness and discipline in them. “The teacher-parent coordination is imperative for overall development of children”, he observed.
The Minister, however, said that since teachers remain more in contact with children from their tender age, they can nourish them properly and carve their minds in such a way that they can help making the world a better place to live in.
He emphasized the need for imparting quality education to students, saying the objective of education should also be to create awareness among the students regarding all the challenges like population explosion, environment degradation, global warming, violence etc. He also stressed on the need of preserving the rich cultural heritage of the country as also the state.
The children presented a colorful variety programme on the occasion. Indira Bhalla, Bureau Chief, Times Now, Pradeep Dutta, Ranjeet Kalra Member BCCI were the guest of honour.
