‘The things you are passionate about are not random, they are your calling.’
These words of wisdom by Fabienne Fredrickson tell the crux of a meaningful life. A recent study revealed that more than 75% people across the globe don’t love their job and more than 55% of these people despise it. These people are the living example of the beings Steve Harvey referred with “Your career is what you’re paid for. Your calling is what you’re made for” And these are the very people who suffer at the end of rat race, as they are running in the race that is not made for them. They are the fishes trying to climb trees, as Einstein mentioned.
Since the number of such people is so huge, it would not be a long shot if you too are among them. But if you indeed are, then take this post as your wake-up call and allow your passion to help you outshine.
Relive your creative childhood
When we were young, like really young, about five or so, most of us had chosen seemingly adventurous career paths like an Astronaut, forest ranger, or firefighter. But as we grew up our ambitions got limited to CEO, or General Manager, or in some rare cases, a paleontologist. With childhood, our creativity too seems to have left us in this blank and bland life. But believe it or not, that creative impulse is still thriving in you. In fact, it is the very thing that despises your cubicle work life.
This impulse can take you to a greater realm that is designed specifically for you. All you need to do is unleash that child in you, and it sure will guide you to your life’s calling. And rely on this child, it has matured enough to not force you to become an Astronaut, but will find a unique way for you to walk on, where the number of competitors won’t hassle you down, because there would not be any.
“If God called us to a task, He will then qualify us for the job.”
With no or few opponents around you, the chances of you being a victor of this race will rise exponentially. Moreover, even if you don’t win the race, you still have the contentment of having traveled a more satisfying journey. After all, life is all about the journey, since the destination will always remain same.
Ask your friends
It is always discouraged to ask from your acquaintances about your life, and to choose your life path without any influence from others. However, it is evident that we are not the best judges of ourselves. Perhaps it is ego, or self-criticism, but the image we have of ourselves is quite different than how the world sees us.
Though it is completely undebatable that you should never let every person around you to influence your life decisions, but if there is a friend, or any acquaintance you have always given your right suggestions, then there is no harm asking them, what they think you are capable of?
However, even after doing so, don’t run blindly along the path they shew. Have your discrimination guide you. More often than not, the words you hear from them would strike right at home, if they are really meant to take you in the right direction. And when that happens, you’ll know you have discovered a right way to live your life, and also, a good friend to keep along.
So now you know the way, or at least the means to find the way, of living your life’s passion for a more meaningful existence. Take it, enjoy your life, and let the world shine with your vibrancy.
