- ‘Chintan Shivir’ to open Dialogue with Young Officers to enable Environment Ministry a “People Centric” Ministry: Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar
New Delhi (GR-TYP-BIN): Mr. Prakash Javadekar said, Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change would be organizing ‘Chintan Shivir’ with its officers in Southern, Northern and North-Eastern parts of India. This would be the unique and innovative initiative enabling officers from Environment, Forest, Pollution boards and Scientists from the concerned departments to participate in the shivir (conference) for two days to introspect and discuss various aspects related to environment Ministry. He was speaking at the Press Conference in New Delhi on February 6.
Speaking further Mr. Javadekar said, Chitan Shivir is organized to enable young officers to share their experiences. The chintan shivir would see four sessions, as ‘how to ensure people`s participation -suggestions and experiences’, ‘My innovative experiments in my area of working’, ‘Suggestion about changes in Laws and rules governing environment, forest, Air, water, pollution, etc.’ and ‘Suggested changes in our administrative processes to deliver good governance’. Chitan Shivir is an effort to make Ministry a “People Centric Ministry” said the Minister.
Chintan Shivir would be organized in Bangalore, Bhopal and Guwahati, covering states of Southern, Northern and North-eastern parts of the country respectively. In this close door event, each participating officer would be given an opportunity to speak and put forth his/her suggestions in an effective and precise manner. These suggestions/ideas would be recorded for further action/implementation.

On the sidelines of Delhi Sustainable Development Summit, the Environment Minister Mr. Prakash Javadekar held bilateral meetings with various world leaders on climate change and related issues.
