Inflation at 5.6% versus 5.24%

Inflation for week-ended January 10 has come at 5.6% versus 5.24% (WoW). WPI for all commodities is up 0.4% at 230 (WoW). Primary articles are up 1.2% while food articles are up 2.2% (WoW).

The market is holding its green position but not too much of buying interest is seen by the investors. The inflation figures have had a neutral impact on the markets.

Inflation for the week ended December 27 stood at 5.91% as against 6.38% in previous week. But still, despite the positive news inflow, the markets are trading in red down about 3% as of now. The satyam scam and lack of buying interests have caused markets to trade in red.

Selling pressure is seen in capital goods, metal, telecom and select banking and power stocks. Realty sector is also under great pressure. Satyam is down about 45.68% today as well.
