Save Darfur Coalition
The Save Darfur Coalition is a diverse alliance of more than 160 faith-based, humanitarian, and human rights organizations representing 130 million Americans, assembled to raise public awareness and to mobilize efforts to end the genocide in Darfur and reduce the suffering in nearby refugee camps. The coalition seeks U.S. pressure to win immediate, international action to protect victims of genocide and “ethnic cleansing,” and to allow the survivors a safe and dignified return to their homes and villages.

Amnesty International
Amnesty International (AI) is a worldwide human rights organization. AI has more than 2.2 million members, supporters and subscribers in over 150 countries and territories in every region of the world. AI seeks to preserve the human rights defined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards. In pursuit of this vision, AI undertakes research and action focused on preventing and ending grave abuses of the rights to physical and mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, and freedom from discrimination, within the context of its work to promote all human rights.

GroundReport
GroundReport.com is a grassroots citizen news portal that shares revenues with contributors. GroundReport’s mission is to democratize the media and enable participation free of government censorship or financial restrictions. Over 1,500 international contributors have posted 17,000 original news reports on GroundReport. DarfurLive is a media awareness project that will connect Darfuri refugees to the world through blogging and live video broadcasts.

In March 2008, GroundReport will travel to Darfuri refugee camps in Chad to broadcast DarfurLive, 24/7 news coverage of the Darfur conflict. Founder Rachel Sterne will report live from the ground using the Mogulus streaming platform and satellite broadband technology. The team will train refugees to be effective citizen journalists, reporting on the crisis through their own words and images.

The result will be DarfurLive, a news outlet run and controlled by the refugees themselves--hosted right here on GroundReport.com.

DarfurLive was founded by GroundReport and Mogulus, and is supported by the Save Darfur Coalition and Amnesty International.
